Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge. Psalm 62: 5-8
Well, today was not a great day for Sandy, but we have much to be thankful for.
First thing this morning, Sandy had a gynecologist appointment and we found out the MRI results which were very good. The physical exam was positive and they did a hormone test to make sure there are no hormonal issues. Since the condition of Sandy's liver is poor they are not able to give her any hormones because it would be too hard on the liver.
She lost another 2 lbs (down to 120 now). Today was liquid day, but she had fish instead. Woo hoo!
Sandy was not able to walk by herself and was not able to stay awake for her appointments. By noon, she was hallucinating and quite confused. She was slurring her speech and was hard to understand. Her body is not able to get rid of the anesthesia from yesterday. They gave her some treatments to help, even an enema (which she mostly slept through). To help flush her body of the anesthesia, they hooked her up to an IV for 12 hours (off around 1am) with electrolytes, potassium and such. They just gave her another transfusion and upped her albumin (liver protein infusion) to twice a day. It is now 5pm and she is slowly coming around and is asking for food.
The people here are amazing! I cannot say this enough. The other inmates offered to look after her to give me a break. So here I am on the computer. Pedro, a massage therapist, gave Sandy a beautiful necklace that his wife made for her. When she has a bad day, he comes into the dining room to play his guitar for her. When she is stuck on the IV, one of the patients lets her listen to Toby Mac on his iPod, which he charges for her daily.
Tonight is Carlos' last night here. There is going to be singing in the evening, and Sandy really wants to be there. Carlos can play anything. We can sing even off-key! Last night, he played everything from Beatles to Amazing Grace. We had a blessed time and most of the inmates were there.
Tomorrow is business here as usual. Sandy is to have another ozone treatment. So far, she has missed all but 1 dental appointment. She always seems to not be well those days. Perfect timing! he he
We asked the cook for mashed potatoes and ham for lunch tomorrow, but no such luck!
