Discharged

Hello Everyone,

Today has been a great day. I am getting all my discharge instructions and IV's today, and everything is going well. My blood tests have improved and I am pleased because I have been working super hard.

I am going to miss my Sanoviv family until next time but I am really looking forward to going home. Today (June 25) is my little Katie's forth birthday and I am missing my kids.

The doctor told me today that the vaccine I am getting now is only the first stage of getting rid of the disease. In 6 months I will start the next vaccine. At least I am getting healthier.

Thanks again everyone. I will be home Monday and I will see if it is possible to upload pictures from my second venture so if you are interested stay tuned.

I love you all

A Night Under the Stars

Today is the dreaded liquid day, but at least they are really good to me. My nutritionist orders food for me because I am always hungry and still loosing a bit of weight. Nobody can live on salad and nut mush alone.

Today the doctor is trying a different treatment called Minor Ozone Autohemotherapy. It should be interesting, I think. Although it is another needle in the behind, as if I hadn't had enough of those. Oh well, it is good for me.

Last night I went out on my balcony and sat in my chair to watch the moon shinning bright over the ocean and I fell asleep. I woke up at 5:00am to the sound of birds. Once I realized that I was outside it kinda felt like I was camping by myself. People ask, "How did you sleep? It was so cold". I reply "I am a Canadian!" Although in the morning I was cold. I must have been really tired to fall asleep outside. It was kinda cool. Anyway I am a little stiff this morning so it is a good thing they are sending me for a deep shiatsu massage.

Well everyone enjoy your solid food at home and have a good one.

Homesick and Horrified

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNTIE SUSIE AND AUNTIE BETTY! Have a great one. Love you guys!

Hello Everyone,

Today was a good day, except I was told I had to go into
the hyper barrack chamber and I didn't handle it as well as I thought
I would. I was a little freaked out because it feels as though you
can't breathe and you are gasping for air. I have felt that too much
before and it was a bit hard on the lungs to feel something like it
again.

Anyway on a different note. Even though there are many people here and
I am enjoying the staff's company. I am homesick. Katie left a
message on my phone in my room saying "Hi mommy I love you". Tomorrow
is her birthday I wish I could be there but she thinks her birthday is
on Monday when mommy comes home.

Today's supper was especially awful it was quinoa burgers. No bread or
sauce; just plain. YUCK!!!! I skipped out I have lost about 8 lbs since
I arrived. Waiting to have sushi or buckwheat pancakes with fruit.
YUM!!!

Anyway you all have a great evening!

Foiled escape!

I heard you got summer! Hooray!

I have had a really great day. I may be going on TV for 60 minutes and I am really excited. I have also been asked to speak to a youth group and give me testimony. I feel so honored. I am currently writing a book and MANY people have already asked to buy it. God has huge plans for my life!

Treatments went well today I just came from ultraviolet therapy and I am waiting to see if I am going to be going into the hyper barrick chamber today or not. As you probably already read I am a bit scared. It is supposed to speed up healing three times faster.

Here is something funny for you the guard left the gate open today and I was walking towards it and another guy saw me. He yelled to the guard in Spanish to close the gate and the guard went running back. I wasn't even going there but I had a really good laugh!

I hope your day was great!

Another Great Day!

Hi Eveyone,

Today has been a great day. Sanoviv wants a before and after picture of me for their website and a testimony. They are calling me "The Walking Miracle".

Since I've returned, I have had a huge blockage in my intestines and today they finally got it out! I feel so much better! I also had a minor mishap and ended up in the recovery room. Out of nowhere my finger just started to bleed and it would not stop. I lost so much blood; I got really light headed. During this time my doctor had booked me a detoxing body wrap and I missed it. What a bummer.

I was able to see the nutritionist today. she is very proud of my progress and my diet.
The results from my allergy and gluten tests have not come in yet but they will be in soon. Apparently my lab results are getting better since I've been here, so PTL (Praise the Lord)!

I am getting really good at doing the vaccine I don't need help at all, so I am pretty proud.

Anyway I hope all is well where you are and God Bless You ALL!

Father's Day

Wow it is a really quiet day today.

I was up before anybody else and before any staff arrived this
morning. The good news is I am full of energy once again and I almost
finished the puzzle (it is a big issue here). I spent the morning
taking care of my 14 year old buddy. She is so sweet. We were so bored
we decided to ride the elevator and explore the forbidden place of the
hospital. We went on an adventure. We also got caught doing it. It was
funny though.

For the rest of the day I will probably go to the pool and burn to a
crisp, go watch pink panther 2 again, play games, and bocci ball with
the other inmates. We are aloud to do whatever we want today.

I am looking forward to being busy tomorrow in treatments I need
something to do!!! GOING CRAZY!!!

Yesterday I never made it to the movie I had my own party in my room
(three enemas in one night) I called it the weight loss party. I am
currently at a healthy 138lbs and most is muscle. At least that is
what the nutritionist said.

Well I hope you all have a wonderful day today. Tomorrow I will have
more to blog as I am back in full treatments.

Happy Fathers Day to all you Fathers I hope you have enjoyed your Day!

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it ... Dad

Abandoned

Hi folks

As you all know today is my first day here alone. My mom left at two
in the morning. It is a little weird without her here but the staff is
great as well as some of the patients. I have become really close
friends with some of the staff and I will have tons of company.

I may have to go into the HYPER-BARRIC CHAMBER I am really freaked out
but it is supposed to work. I will keep you updated on that.

My heart aches for one of the patients here she has a lot of the same
symptoms as I did when the auto-immune disease is in it's early stages
and she is unaware. They have not told her yet. Her liver and other
organs began to shut down. Please pray for this person! Also one other
couple to pray for are people from Canada. He has MS. She is trying
to keep him strong and positive because they just found out that the
treatment will not work on him and he is really down about it. He made
a promise to his little boy to go swim with the dolphins and now he
can't. Pray for strength and complete healing.

Today I have to go see the Psychologist and he is going to talk me
through the fear of the HYPER-BARRIC CHAMBER. It looks like they also
booked me in for a lymph drainage with the machine. Saturday and
Sunday are quiet here because the doctors are not in. OH GOOD NEWS it
is dessert day after supper we get a tiny bit of a all Natural
dessert. YUM can't wait need something sweet. So for the rest of the
day I will be going to Aquacise (water workout in pool), a walk and
visit around the pool. I also set a goal to finish the big puzzle. I
just found out they will be playing Pink Panther 2 for all the
patients as well so I am going to party!! (I WISH) Anyway it is nice
to have a break today I have been running non-stop since I arrived at
Sanoviv.

I also would like to thank everyone for reading my blog I am truly
blessed to have such a great support system.

Day 6

Hi Everyone,

Today was a quiet day for me except for a colon hydrotherapy--o ya what an experience --everyone should try it in their lifetime it is very educational. Sandy is in having hers right now!! She gets them regularly here. It is part of the problem.
The doctor wants Sandy to start hyper barrack chamber to bring the swelling and inflammation down faster, but she doesn't like that idea because she is a bit claustrophobic. Some other inmates offered to go with her when I leave. This weekend there will be 3 girls left behind without their Moms -age 23-20-14. I think they will help each other out.
They are having a bit of trouble with the UV therapy; it is not going in as good as it should. All the staff will take good care of them I'm sure.
Sandy did her own vaccine today again she is really getting the hang of it.
I am leaving here at 2-2:30am to catch my flight, gonna be interesting going through the border at night. Anyway time to go for my last Veggie meal, tomorrow I am having a burger with the works!!!!!! AND COFFEE!!!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Liquid Day

Hey everyone! Yes, today is the dreaded liquid day! Wish it were coffee!!!! I had packed us 2 protein bars for today and the maid stole one yesterday. She has us in a pickle because she knows we can't report her, smart cookie. We will share the one that is left for lunch.

First thing this morning the doc told us that the results of yesterday's blood test were not good and Sandy will have to stay another week! Her swelling from her liver has caused spleen issues, her bad protein is up and her platelets are down, which is called portal hypertension. She will come home on the 27th of June. I will still come home on Saturday. They will continue the treatments they started and maybe add a few more. She is o.k. with it as it is better to fix it now instead of coming back right away again or ending up in emerg again. Her ultraviolet treatment didn't go as smooth as expected, neither her veins would not cooperate. They will try UV Sauna today. She also has dental today which should relieve her mouth pain a bit.
There is a 14 year old girl here from Michigan who has Lyme disease. Sandy and her hit it off right away and they will keep each other company when I leave.
Anyway I got the best gift today from someone here, will tell you all about it when I get back --made my day!!!
Have a Coffee for me. I like large, 1 cream!

-Susan

Mexico won 2-0! Lots of excitement here!!!

Day 4

Hey folks! Rumor has it that you are having a wonderful summer day out there. We had awful weather this morning; staff came in with winter jackets and mitts! But by noon it cleared up and we finally had sun with very little wind.

Sandy had her specialist appointment this morning and he was very impressed by her progress. Sandy, however, didn't remember him at all. He drained her lung last time and is the liver specialist. He says she will have to continue on her diuretics as there is still some inflammation in the liver. They started her on IV treatments for liver repair today, one at 4 and one at 8. She also started her Ultraviolet therapy. She even gave herself the vaccine today!

The food is definitely better than last time. We are actually doing ok with most of it, not quite so much nut mush this time! They have really changed up the whole menu. Sandy is having a tuff time getting full; she is always hungry.

They are going to do the allergy tests and the gluten test before we leave. She has done so well on this diet. I think she will have to be on it for quite some time yet.

Enjoy your 3 day summer without us! Hope it's still around when we get back!

Tuesday, June 15

Day 3

Last night at 9:30 we had a 5.7 earthquake...again. They told us that they had not had one since we were here the last time. What up with that? Think it really messed up Sandy's sleep apnea test though cause she was out her bed and out the door in seconds!

Anyway we are having the best day yet, we actually had fruit for breakfast and word has it that we are getting chicken for lunch.

Sandy's doctor's appointment went SUPER today; all of her lab work came back normal!!!!!!! One protein is at 3 and the normal is below 1, but it was at 27 last time. PTL!! In fact her tests were so good they want to do them again tomorrow just to make sure, cause it is miraculous to be THAT good but we are confident that they are right.

Her nutrition tests were also done today and they came back as miraculous as blood did. She has gained a lot of weight but it apparently is all muscle. Her diet at home is doing great for her.

They are cleaning her out again so she is getting a colonic today as well as a cleansing.

The Doc says she has a lot of mouth issues (not surprised I washed it out with soap...didn't work. lol) The dentist will try to fix that.

She started ozone therapy yesterday and it is not the same. She is not impressed, because this time it is rectal. She also had her first vaccine and it looks like we will be able to do it with no problems. They are giving her vitamin K and A and B12 shots, and tomorrow she starts a therapy, I think he said hydra not sure, they pass light through her blood to make the ozone more effective.

The specialist from Tijuana is coming tomorrow as well to adjust medication for her abdomen swelling. Her liver is still a bit inflamed at this point. He is the one that drained her lung last time. Doc says her lung is completely clear this time. He also has told us she has to come back in 6 months for follow up then in a year. I guess they gotta be sure the vaccine did all it is supposed to do. For me this trip is much easier, she is going to most therapies on her own. I can't keep up with her.

Lots to Praise the Lord for thanks for all your prayers

So we have had a lot of good news today, even the clouds went away.

Monday, June 14

Day 2!

Hi everyone in fast food land!!

First thing this morning Sandy saw Dr. Mesa and he had to do a double take! He is very impressed with her progress and said she could slow down with her eating because she is at a healthy weight now. He says he will start the vaccine today yet and probably an ozone, too. She has to have another sleep apnea test tonight as well. Everyone here is excited to see her full of life.

She did her own samples this morning while I slept in till 7. All is good, except the food. Last night for supper they gave us quinio stuffed in a pepper. Don't know what it is but it looks like the stuff they scrape from the grain augers at the end of harvest season.

Today we saw the most disgusting squirrel walking on the "energy grass" so if that's a sign we're not trying it. He looked thin and sick and a bit rabid, not even the rodents can live on this diet!!!

Anyway we are hungry but thankful----God is good, the rest we can make jokes about. We are so grateful that she is getting stronger and healthier everyday. Life is GOOD!

Sunday, June 13

Day 1

Well folks, we are officially back in the clink! We had no problems getting here this time. Sandy started swelling a little bit, but nothing to worry about. We left home at 3am CST and got here in time for lunch at 1pm PST. As luck would have it, we had NUT MUSH and broccoli. Let the diet begin! Woo hoo!

Sandy had a doc check-up at 3 and an EKG already today. They tell us we are in for a busy day tomorrow. The weather here is not at all what we hoped for; it is chilly and windy as usual. The sun is out, but we have to wear a sweater, and this is supposed to be the warmest day this week.

The staff are amazed at how good she looks and we have already received lots of hugs and kisses. Too bad Antonio Banderas doesn't work here--just kidding Rick, you are way hotter than him! lol!

Anyway we are 2 hours behind you guys so I gotta go it's time for more nut mush yum!!

Going back!!

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
2 Thessalonians 3:16

We (yes, we as in Sandy and I) are leaving EARLY on Sunday morning for Sanoviv. Our flight leaves at 7am so we have to leave home by 3am! We will only stay 6 days but Dr. Mesa would not approve sending aunt Joanne in my place. So they are letting me stay for free which is a $700.00 savings!!!

Sandy is doing very well, eating everything in sight and putting on the pounds. She looks really good. We did, however, have to increase her diuretic because she was swelling in the abdomen between doses. We were cutting down on them and were down to 1/2 tablet 3 times a week. Now we are up to 4-5 times a week, but it keeps her swelling under control. She is a bridesmaid for a friend on Friday evening, which she almost canceled a few months back. She mowed her own lawn and is running all her own errands. Today she was at Steinbach hospital to visit our neighbor--who was diagnosed with liver cancer last week and only has a few weeks to live. Sandy gave her a wonderful foot rub. It was sooo good to see her pay it forward.

We will not be able to text because MTS is charging 35 cents per text now, so we will blog everyday again. Sandy doesn't remember much from our last trip except that she didn't like the food! Oh but this time we are much wiser, we will be packin'. I got instant soup, protein bars and COFFEE!!!! No nut mush for me thanks!

Thanks to everyone again for your prayers and support and the calls and messages that continue to come in. We are so very blessed to have our daughter back!

Neat little story to add-- the Sunday before we left for Sanoviv Sandy was VERY sick and Rick was holding her in his arms crying and telling her she HAD to fight and not give up; we didn't want to live without her. Well, the other day Rick wasn't feeling well and she grabbed him and mocked him saying Dad you gotta get better...she got a swift kick in the behind!! So her crazy sense of humor is back! She says all her duckies are back-- just one is on an adventure some days!

Anyway we should be at Sanoviv by supper on Sunday.
